Chili & Salsa Cook-Off Entry Form

GENERAL RULES & REGULATIONS

  • Set up/Check in time for competitors: 8:00 am
  • Head Cook meeting: 9:00 am
  • Space Locations are on a first come, first serve basis
  • ONLY gas grills, propane stoves, & personal generators allowed
  • A general power station will be provided for blenders, etc.
  • NO CHARCOAL OR WOOD FIRES
  • NO glass containers/bottles
  • NO personal alcoholic beverages allowed; Beer/wine may be purchased at Pedernales Falls Trading Post
  • Each team must have a Head Cook
  • Head Cooks must attend the Head Cook meeting to receive judging containers
  • Chili meat and ingredients will be inspected after the Head Cook’s meeting
  • Salsa ingredients will be inspected after the Head Cook’s meeting
  • NO vendors are allowed to enter the contests – individual cooks only
  • Teams must supply their own equipment, supplies and ingredients
  • All grease drippings must be contained and disposed of properly off-premises
  • Tip jars are allowed for samples – food MAY NOT be sold
  • Teams must supply their own, tables, water and tent canopies for shade
  • Electricity is available upon prior written request for an additional $15; teams must supply their own 100’ extension cord
  • The Head Cook is responsible for all cleanup of the team’s space
  • The Head Cook is responsible for the conduct of their team and their guests
  • Pedernales Falls Trading Post reserves the right to make additional regulations as situations warrant
  • Decisions of Pedernales Falls Trading Post shall be final
  • All rules will be enforced and refusal to abide by them will results in immediate disqualification and eviction from the grounds with no refund of fees paid
  • Pedernales Falls Trading Post will retain 10% of the Chili & Salsa entry fees prior to splitting the cash pot among winners: 50/30/20

CHILI CHAOS COOK-OFF OFFICIAL RULES

  • ONE Chili entry per team ONLY
  • Chili & Salsa must be made from scratch; cooking begins with raw ingredients, vegetables, spices, etc.
  • NO pre-seasoning or marinating of meat allowed until after inspection
  • Pre-processed/seasoned Venison meat/sausages are allowed
  • Meat may not be pre-cooked in any manner
  • Beans may be pre-cooked and included as a filler
  • All other ingredients must be chopped or prepared during the preparation period
  • NO canned Chili or ingredients of any kind allowed
  • NO canned Salsa or ingredients of any kind allowed
  • Chili must be turned in no later than 1:00pm
  • Salsa must be turned in no later than 11:30am
  • Chili will be judged on aroma, consistency, color, taste and aftertaste
  • Salsa will be judged on aroma, consistency, spice, taste and aftertaste

Winners will be announced @ approximately 2:15pm
